Trends in consumption of sugar confectionery, snack foods, desserts and baked goods are discussed, together with the emergence of new, healthier products. Aspects considered include: factors responsible for the increasing popularity of healthy snacks; rises in sales of diet candy in the US; and new low carbohydrate, low cal, natural and organic confectionery items launched in the US.
