Quarterly promotions are boosting participation by up to 12% in many schools where Metz and Associates, the Dallas, PA-based contractor, runs foodservice. The average jump in participation is 5%. Every quarter the schools—which are mostly in Pennsylvania—run a different theme. Metz officials provide school foodservice teams with contest ideas, prizes (often from vendors), games (such as Nutrition Jeopardy and Nutrition Bingo), puzzles, giveaways, recipes, menu ideas, nutritional facts, and health and wellness information, all related to the promotion.
