Origin, aims and organisation The Riddet Institute is one of eight Centres of Research Excellence in New Zealand and the only centre devoted to food science, human nutrition and food innovation. The Riddet Institute is named after Professor William Riddet (1898-1958), who together with Professor Geoffrey Peren, founded Massey Agricultural College in Palmerston North (now Massey University) in 1927. Professor Riddet was a true pioneer and inspirational figure in food science and university education.
