Two systems become one to make machinery safer

Legislation on machine safety standards, which takes effect at the end of the year, should lead to fewer accidents during equipment maintenance, experts claim. The standards are contained in the EU Machinery Directive and will allow electrical control circuits as well as hard-wired electromechanical components to control safety systems. This will allow equipment suppliers to integrate safety and operating systems, said David Reade commercial engineer for safety at Rockwell Automation.
