Automatic air format

Sidel is introducing the ALS guide for air conveyors: an automatic adjustment system for side guides that promises greater flexibility during format changeovers. Diversified production means more format changeovers, which have to be quick and reliable. Sidel has designed its new ALS guide with no pneumatic cylinder so that one conveyor will automatically adapt to an unlimited number of bottle formats (patent pending). The operator selects the desired format from the control panel. A gearbox transmits the appropriate movement to the side guides through a flexible shaft that follows the conveyor layout: the guides are positioned by translation via a worm gear (a shaft with screw thread). The small number of parts reduces maintenance needs. It also operates with only one drive up to 30m on each side.
