Influence of Filtration Materials on the Arsenic Content in Beverages

Filtration is a necessary technological step in beer brewing to guarantee high product stability and long shelf-life. However, these filtrations may charge the beers with contaminants such as arsenic. Filtration experiments were done using Standard beers. Unstrained beers, the same beers after filtration with diatoma-ceous earth, with diatomaceous earth and PVPP (10%), as well as with synthetic material (Crosspure~®) were analyzed by means of ICP-MS.
