Hawker Hurricane IIc LF363 is particularly distinguished, having become the longest military serving example of its type. It first took to the skies on January 1, 1944, and went to 63 Squadron at Turnhouse, Scodand, on March 30, where it remained for only two months before being transferred to 309 (Polish) Squadron at Drem, Scodand, from May 23. Then, after returning to No.63 on November 2, the fighter went to 26 Squadron at Tangmere, Sussex, by the end of the month.rnBefore war's end LF363 was with 62 Operational Training Unit at Ouston, Durham. Once the war was over, it was placed on the charge of Middle Wallop in Hampshire from August 30,1945.rnBy August 14, 1947 the fighter was on the strength of the Fighter Command Communication Squadron at Northolt in London. In February 1948, LF363 moved to the Station Flight at Thorney Island, Hants, and that September took part in the Battle of Britain flypast overrnLondon.
