A monument has been erected at the location where Supermarine Spitfire pilot F/Sgt Peter Attwooll from 127 Squadron lost his life in 1944. On December 29, four aircraft from the unit led by Flt Lt Lea took off from Woensdrecht, the Netherlands, tasked with dive-bombing buildings on a quay near Gorinchem.
