Missing Spitfire pilot finally laid to rest

The body of a Norwegian Supermarine Spitfire pilot that had lain undiscovered for over 60 years has been recovered and laid to rest in Oslo. On August 4,1950,24-year-old 2nd Lt Finn Thorstensen had been conducting a low-level training flight in Spitfire IX MK997 of the Royal Norwegian Air Force over Lake Samsjoen, south-east of Trondheim, when his aircraft crashed into the water. The machine broke into five pieces and sank to a depth of around 100ft (30m).
