Your article on Burtonwood air base (August issue) brought back memories from the 1950s when, as an aircraft-mad teenager, I visited every airport and airshow I could cycle to. Living close to the base, we were treated daily to the constant drone of C-47s, R-4D8s, B-50s, C-54s and C-124s.
