I was fascinated to see the evocative photos of the Horten Ho.IX.V2 jet fighter on page 87 of the January issue. As mentioned in the article, the Ho.IX.V2 crashed on February 18,1945, killing its pilot. In the impact both engines tore free and the wooden wings were substantially destroyed. Curiously, that isn't the end of the story. Even though the aircraft had been completely wrecked, it was transported some 220 miles and hidden in a barn.
