Mustang for sale in US

Newly listed for sale in the US is North American P-51D Mustang N2151D Moonbeam McSwine, a former FlyPast cover star. (See the June 2007 issue.) Built in October 1944 as 44-73656, the fighter was assigned for shipment to the UK, but in fact remained in the US, firstly serving with the 182nd Fighter Squadron at Brooks, San Antonio. After flying with several units it was sold as surplus in 1958, entering civilian hands as N5073K. In 1968 it operated with the El Salvador Air Force before returning to the US. Re-registered as N2151D in 1975, it was then painted as Moonbeam McSwine, a 'blue noser' of the 352nd Fighter Group.
