Authors Theo and Frans Barten grew up with a fascination for history and surviving artefacts. This first manifested itself in a successful series of books focusing on World War Two-era vehicles, but in 2000 they began a new project, researching and photographing surviving control towers in the UK. All Along The Control Tower is the final result of this comprehensive labour. It contains high-guality images of 52 remaining airfield towers at former RAF bases, and one Luftwaffe building in the Netherlands. The objective is to show them in the state they are in today, now that their military role has long since ceased.
