The surviving cockpit section of Lightning F.2A XN728 was the star attraction at Newark Air Museum's annual CockpitFest, which was held over the Bank Holiday weekend of August 28-30. Dubbed the Al Lightning' and owned by noted Lightning exponent Darren Swinn, XN728 is one of only four F.2A survivors in the UK. It spent nearly 30 years close to the Al road, near Balderton in Lincolnshire and its ravaged remains gained fame as a landmark for passing drivers.
