New uniform for Cotswold's whispering giant'

Fresh paint and markings have been applied to Bristol Britannia C.I XM496 at Cotswold Airport (formerly RAF Kemble) in Gloucestershire. Volunteers from the aircraft's preservation society, led by Jim Brown, have successfully refreshed the appearance of XM496, the last Britannia to fly. Named Regulus, it was built in Belfast and flew for the first time on August 24,1960, before going on to serve with 511 and 99 Squadrons from RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire and Brize Norton, Oxfordshire. Subsequently in civilian hands, it spent its final operational days in Africa, before it landed for the last time at Kemble in October 1997.
