Remembering 'The Few'

Despite bitingly cold winds, showers and low cloud, a sizeable - yet socially distanced - crowd descended on the famous Kent airfield of Headcorn for Aero Legends' three-day Battle of Britain spectacle. It is fair to say that the UK's airshow season has been anything but typical due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. But with Old Warden's Shuttleworth Collection managing to add a slice of airshow familiarity with its groundbreaking and adaptive approach (see FlyPast October), attentions turned to IWM Duxford and its intended Battle of Britain Airshow scheduled for mid-September. Expected to be as close to an airshow as guidelines would allow, the internet was soon awash with the news it had been cancelled. Planned to take place the weekend after, many expected a similar announcement from Aero Legends regarding its own Battle of Britain salute.
