As confirmed in our December 2019 issue, the restoration team at RAF Museum Cosford has completed its revival of a unique Westland Lysander Ⅲ. The distinctive machine, R912S, is the only surviving Special Duties variant of its type and has been renewed to static display condition. The aircraft has undergone meticulous conservation work, including the addition of a new fabric outer skin and a complete repaint in the museum's Michael Beetham Conservation Centre. Previously on show in 225 Squadron livery at the attraction's London site, it is now resplendent in a 161 Squadron 'Special Ops' scheme - the paintwork it wore towards the end of World War Two. The finished aircraft is due to be returned to RAF Museum London in 2020.
