It has become a time of departures at FM. Last month we lost Randy Randolph, a columnist who had a large and devoted following. That's an easy assessment based on the number of letters that have come in and the tributes paid in various online forums. Some of those letters are in this month's Air Mail. We aim to continue Small Talk, but recognize the towering, but daunting legacy Randy left. As one of those letters opined: we feel sorry not only for Randy's loss but for you at FM because of the shoes you have to fill. That letter made me think that practically all of our columnists have created wonderful legacies as rich as Randy. Their insights, their passion for our wonderful hobby, their commitment—their leadership in some cases—have reaped the respect, admiration and devoted following of our readers.
