The endurance record for an unmanned air vehicle flight officially belongs to Zephyr, the solar-powered UAV built by Qi-netiq, says the Federation Aero-nautique Internationale (FAI). Record claims have been verified by FAI for both duration -336h 22min - and altitude -70,741.5ft (21,560m) - for the 9-23 July flight. Zephyr easily beat the previous endurance record for unmanned flight of 30h and 24min, held by the RQ-4A Global Hawk, and also passed the Rutan Voyager's record for the longest flight by an aircraft without refuelling - 216h 3min 44s - set in December 1986.
