Russia trumpets 'elephant'-sized future freighter

Russian researchers have constructed a scale model of the proposed "Slon" - or elephant - outsize freighter, put forward as a potential successor to the Antonov An-124. Moscow's Central Aerohydro-dynamic Institute has shown off the model ahead of windtunnel testing. It says the aircraft is designed to be powered by the Avi-advigatel PD-35 engine, a high-thrust version of the PD-14 being developed for the Irkut MC-21.
