Global 7500 nears operational debut following FAA approval

With Bombardier now choosing to focus on its business aviation interests, its flagship Global 7500 took another step towards service entry on 7 November, securing type certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration. The ultra-long-range jet is scheduled to enter service before year- end. FAA approval came six weeks after the GE Aviation Passport-powered type achieved Transport Canada validation, capping a two-year flight-test campaign that saw over 2,700h logged by five aircraft. Stephen McCullough, vice-president of integrated product development for the Global 7500 and Global 8000, says the latest step "marks one of the final chapters in our very successful development programme". Bombardier handed over 31 business aircraft in the period ended 30 September; it remains on track to deliver 135 units across the full year.
