Japan's FHI considers new factory to deliver on expected 777X workshare

Fuji Heavy Industries is in negotiations with Boeing over participation on the 777X programme, and expects to secure the same work share it has on the present 777. The manufacturer is also looking at building a new factory to cater to work specific to the 777X - but this depends on whether a deal is inked with Boeing, FHI says. FHI manufactures the centre wing box for the 777 and 787, and also produces parts for the 767 and 737. Japan accounts for about 20％ of the workshare on the 777. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is also involved in the programme, manufacturing the aft fuselage panel, tail fuselage and entry doors of the aircraft.
