Russia's government has introduced additional subsidies to support sales of the Sukhoi Super-jet 100 and Irkut MC-21 airliners. Funding from the national budget will be used to offset the United Aircraft subsidiaries' spending on a portion of their non-manufacturing costs. "In turn, that should allow the producers of new mainline aircraft to lower their prices and help increase their sales by incentivis-ing customers," says Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev. Some Rb250 million ($4.4 million) will be allocated this year.
