NVG case behind C-130's fatal stall

A US Air Force Lockheed Martin C-130J crash that killed 14 people at Jalalabad airfield in Afghanistan on 2 October 2015 was caused by a hard-shell night vision goggle (NVG) case which had been placed in front of one of its control yokes, an investigation has revealed. One of the tactical transport's pilots used the case to keep the aircraft's elevator in a raised position while tall cargo was being loaded via its ramp, investigators found. Over the next 50min, and during a final pre-flight check, both he and the co-pilot seemingly forgot to remove the hard case before take-off.
