Technical factors did not lead to 747-400F crash, says ACT

Two flight-data recorders retrieved from the wreckage of a Turkish-operated Boeing 747-400F are being analysed by Russia's Interstate Aviation Committee to determine why the aircraft came down while attempting to land at Bishkek. The aircraft, arriving at the Kyrgyz capital from Hong Kong at 07:20 on 16 January, ploughed through a residential area west of Manas airport, claiming the lives of 34 people on the ground as well as its four crew members. The crash site lies about 0.5nm (1km) from the far end of runway 26, but investigators have yet to confirm whether the freighter -operated by ACT Airlines under its MyCargo Airlines brand - had been attempting a go-around.
