How has fleet management changed since you first entered the field? I started in fleet and logistics in the late '70s. At that time, I was one of a few women attending private truck council and logistics meetings, and there was virtually no visibility or network for women in this business. Since then, and since joining NAFA in the late '80s, more women have taken this career path, including some in leadership roles. Equal opportunity has been the biggest change. Another noticeable change is that fleet management was typically part of logistics or supply chain function in business. Now fleet often reports to human resources, finance, purchasing, or shared service functions. What is the most difficult problem you currently face on an on-going basis? Coming up with cost-savings ideas year after year that are actionable by the business.
