There is no shame in recognising that there could be a problem and this is, in fact, the first step in making sure that the workforce is safe. By taking a responsible attitude and putting a drugs and alcohol policy in place, employers are sending out two clear messages (1) that the workplace is a 'no go' area for users of drugs and alcohol and (2) that they are totally committed to a safe place of work. Surely that is something that every organisation should be proud of.
