Making Lincolnshire a safer place to live, work and visit

FIRE: How are you coping with the spending cuts? DR: As part of the county council, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue has not escaped the fallout of the economic downturn and reduction in government funding. The impact of this, allied with the need to ensure the service is properly structured, equipped, and trained to meet future requirements, has undoubtedly presented a number of challenges over the past 24 months. In common with all authorities, Lincolnshire County Council saw a significant reduction in its grant funding as a result of CSR 2010. This has seen an overall reduction in the county's budget of some ￡125 million over the period of the settlement. In drawing up the shape and structure for the council to meet the challenge of these reductions, Fire and Rescue along with broader Community Protection and Safeguarding were identified as priority services and were largely protected from cuts.
