Leicestershire looks forward with station redevelopment programme

Shepshed Fire and Rescue Station was formally re-opened by the Chair of the Leicestershire Combined Fire Authority, Councillor Steve Corrall, in July. The ceremony marked a key point in the evolution of the service as it marked both a memorial to two former firefighters who served at Shepshed, Mick Bird and Ray Savage (along with police officers Bryan Moore and Andy Munn), as well as the opening of a state-of-the-art specialist training facilities which Group Manager Nigel Shaw says puts them "a step ahead of all other FRS nationwide". Cllr Corrall was joined by a number of other dignitaries from across Leicestershire, including Chief Constable of Leicestershire Police Simon Cole, Shepshed Station Manager John Greasley, LFRS Chaplain Rev John Bird (see photo opposite), and Chief Fire Officer Dave Webb. Speaking ahead of the ceremony, CFO Webb told FIRE about the new refurbishments and how they fit in with the overall development of Leicestershire FRS.
