In my last viewpoint i posed the question: "Does it matter that the lay person does not understand the importance of passive (built-in) fire protection?" In this issue I look at the practical reality of this question and in so doing, find that I must draw the conclusion that yes, it matters a great deal! On 22 September the London Evening Standard ran a feature covering a two-year battle by residents of a luxury block of apartments in Rotherhithe over a number of workmanship issues.
