Stansted Airport is using Eurobond's Rockspan Extra external composite wall cladding to help protect the 20 million passengers passing through every year.rnChosen because of its fire performance credentials and low environmental impact, the cladding can span more than six metres, which reduces the need for secondary steelwork and so, says Eurobond, reduces labour time and construction costs.rn"We chose Rockspan Extra because of the excellent non-combustible properties of its stone wool core," said Ray Bunn, operations manager for contractor Pratersrnwhich oversaw the project. "Fire safety is vital in a high-profile airport such as Stansted, as you have to consider the large volume of people that pass through its doors each day. The Rockspan Extra system is also quick and easy to assemble, which minimised disruption to passengers and facilitated their quick return back into the terminal."
