Managing fire safety in the healthcare sector is a diverse and complicated process due to the multitude of risks which impact on fire safety, such as general health and safety; industrial and commercial risks; as well as radiological, pathological and clinical hazards. This is in addition to security-related issues which include incidents of violence and aggression. Many of these risks are spread across one organisation. As a result, managing fire safety effectively is an integral part of the core business of taking care of patients, while also considering staff and visitor safety.
