The current version of the fire extinguisher maintenance scheme, SP101/ST104, has been a merged scheme for more than 10 years now - with only minor revisions. Following feedback from the industry, it was decided by the BAFE board and council that this scheme now required a major review. An appointed scheme review group (SRG) was created last year and chaired by Dave Russell, who is well known in the wider fire industry, to ensure this best represented what the industry required. A commonly misunderstood perception of BAFE within the industry itself is that we create schemes and then do very little after launch. This could not be further from the truth, as we are constantly monitoring the industry and looking to improve all of the BAFE schemes when necessary.
