Fire resistant glazing scam lands fraudster in jail

A FRAUDSTER, who sold ordinary glass as fire resistant safety glass and failed to supply numerous buildings with the correct specification, has received a prison sentence for putting lives and property at risk. Seamus Laverty was jailed after pleading guilty to 16 counts of committing fraud at Antrim Crown Court in January with all the charges occurring on various dates between 1 January 2011 and 31 December 2012. He had falsely represented that Glassworks Ireland Ltd had installed fire resistant glass, whereas ordinary and much cheaper laminate glass had been installed.
