To apply finish neatly to panel edges or to spray both sides of a piece quickly and easily, it helps to raise the workpiece above the work surface on small, pointed risers. You can buy these as specialized accessories from woodworking suppliers, but I've found a lower-cost alternative: golf-ball markers. I got mine free from a local golf course but you can buy them by the bag at any golf-supply shop. They are made up of a l-in.-dia. plastic disk with a V2-in.-long pin, which provides plenty of height for my purposes. The end of the pin is rounded and will not dig into heavier items.
