Stainless steel strainers are used in a wide range of process filtration applications.Though their importance is sometimes minimized due to their relatively large pore size, strainers serve a critical role as the first (and sometimes only) line of defense against large particles. There is no universal agreement on the difference between a strainer and a filter. Some manufacturers refer to strainers as having a pore size of 500 micron or above, while others refer to filters with pore sizes as low as 50 micron as strainers.
