Disc filtration in power generation can equal millions of dollars in savings for a power generator. Using reclaim or "gray" water for cooling tower makeup has multiple benefits to both the owner and the environment. Although an initial capital investment is required in a reuse program, there can be substantial savings in water, sewage treatment and chemicals. This growing industrial trend in sustainability is expanding worldwide. In the power in- dustry, this water management concept is alleviating the strain on water supplies across the globe by reducing the total water requirements of generating plants, which is the number one user of water in the U.S. Reducing fresh water sources also reduces risk of revenue loss if the power generator was asked to shut down due to a drought situation. Wall Street investors have actually assigned water risk to each power company in the U.S. An electricity generator in Vietnam lost over $300 mil- lion in revenue as the water was needed for irrigation.
