Conductive Polyurethane Adhesive for ATEX Filters Joins the Stobicoll F Portfolio

STOCKMEIER Urethanes has developed a conductive adhesive for the production of ATEX filters that helps control the voltage while simultaneously sealing and stabilizing the filter. To reach the ATEX requirements, filter producers must equip the frames with metal clips or soldered wires at different locations on the frame to dissipate the electrical current. The production process currently requires all the conduction points to be precisely positioned before the frame is encapsulated with a system such as polyurethane. From a production standpoint this is an awkward and costly method that only partially pro- vides a solution for the potential of a static spark. As shown in the diagram on page 38, the possibility for a concentration of static between the conduction points is still high, which allows the possibility for a static spark to occur.
