Capesizes saw rates increase this month, as the average of the 4 t/c routes was up by 9.2%. Panamax rates slipped somewhat, and Handies saw mixed development. After holidays in the Far East, Capesize rates showed an improvement in the first half of the month followed by somewhat declining rates, before a revival was experienced in the last few days of October. The Baltic Cape Index rose about 8% and the average of the 4 t/c routes increased from USD 55,500 to about USD 60,600 daily.
