US Crude Production - What Can We Expect?

The EIA has presented optimistic US crude production estimates for the period 2006-2020. The consequence, not surprisingly, is increased dependence on oil exporting countries. The US is the world's largest oil importer, which according to EIA's crude production history and forecasts (EIA Annual Energy Review, 2005), has experienced a steady decline in domestic crude production over the last two decades. In the years to come, however, the EIA estimates that the US will be able to stabilize this trend, and even increase its domestic output of crude oil.
