Back in the 1990s, Australia's main city ports were all jostling to declare themselves the country's hub port. But the hubbing bubble now seems to have burst. Ports in Oz have settled down to growing their business organically. Unlike the US, which has a sizeable inland population, land-bridging in Australia is more of a pure A-to-B operation between major cities, usually involving distances in the thousands of kilometres.
