Sir, We read with interest the letter from Capt CF Spencer (12 March issue). Of course, we have every sympathy with his contention that seafarers need as much support and guidance as possible when confronted with threat of attack from pirates.rnIndeed, to this same end, IMO is revising and updating its Guidance to shipowners, operators, masters and crews on preventing and suppressing acts of piracy and armed robbery against ships, which contains comprehensive advice on measures that can be taken onboard to prevent attacks or, when they occur, to minimise the danger to the crew and ship.
