Tensions are running high over an initiative, led by Maersk and supported by equipment manufacturers, to have coriolis mass flow meters installed both on ships and barges.rnThe bunkering industry is widely regarded as being vulnerable to bribery, theft and fraud. Last year in Singapore, directors of Faber Marine were sent to jail and the company had its bunkering licence cancelled because it had become involved in bribery. Fraud cases usually relate to the short supply of bunkers - supplying less fuel than has been paid for. This requires collusion between the bunker supplier and an insider on the ship, normally a chief engineer.
