The Royal Dutch shipowners association blow their green trumpet

The Royal Dutch shipowners association, KVNR, has launched a revised green policy. The move follows long and complicated discussions about legislation to protect the environment, generating a range of opinions about need and necessity. At the New Year get-together in The Hague, KVNR chairman Tineke Netelenbos said reducing emissions in an effort to limit global warming has been and will be the top priority of the owners' association in the years to come. A set of clear targets has been developed to reduce the size of shipping's carbon footprint, which cannot be misinterpreted. KVNR has put out a leaflet outlining these targets and explaining the best practices of eight shipping lines, including Anthony Veder, Stena Line and Holland America Line.
