Scald is salvages sunken bow

After weeks of intensive preparation, the bow section of sunken general cargo ship Flinterstar has been removed from the seabed off Belgium's Zeebrugge by Scaldis Salvage. Ajoint venture of DEME, Jan De Nul, and Herbosch-Kiere, Scaldis is on schedule to remove the remaining stern section in August. Owned by Dutch company Flinter, the 2002-built vessel sank on 6 October 2015 after colliding with 'K' Line LNG Shipping's tanker Al-Oraiq in the North Sea about 10 km off Zeebrugge. Flinterstar's crew abandoned ship and were rescued by Marshall Islands-flagged Al-Oraiq and local coastguards who took the crew to Zeebrugge. Belgian authorities thermalted an oil spill coming from the wreck.
