NEI wins ballast water treatment race

While most attention has been focused on European-developed ballast water treatment systems, the first company to receive full type approval is NEI Treatment Systems, of Virginia, US.rnIn early October NEI's Venturi Oxygen Stripping (VOS) ballast water treatment system was issued with a type approval certificate of Ballast Water Management System by the Liberian Register, with a technical review by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). Land-based biological testing was conducted by the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory (CBL) of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science.
