Making a case for shipping

Theshipping industry cannot be said to haveasingle common viewpoint on CO_2 emissions and climate change, even if a numberof industry bodies have tried to demonstrate that it does. In September, for example, the UK Chamber of Shipping issued a statement that implied the shipping industry favoured a cap and trade approach but by Decemberthe International Chamber of Shipping had added a possible bunker levy into the list of market-based instruments (MBIs) to encourage emission reductions.
