South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) recently handed over the latest ship in a series of VLCCs for Malaysian tanker owner AET. The 320,000dwt Eagle Verona is the third of four sisterships which were ordered from DSME in 2010 at a price of $107.5M each. All four ships have been built to the yard's most efficient specification available. AET said the ships were "built to the latest 'eco-design' to ensure they are the greenest VLCCs operating in today's market": innovations include MAN B&W's latest super-stroke electronically controlled main engine, together with a higher efficient propeller of larger diameter and lower rpm.
