Carsten takes another from Aker

Hamburg-based operator Carsten Rehder has taken delivery of the second of a pair of CS1700 class container ships from Aker Germany. The first, Baltic Strait, was delivered in June. After sailing from the yard on 9 July, Barents Strait headed to Liverpool to load its first cargo for East Asia. The 182.52m loa ship has capacity for 1,702teu and is equipped with 300 sockets for standard 40ft reefer boxes. Although built in Germany, home to a number of engine-builders, Barents Strait is equipped with a two-stroke Mitsubishi 7UEC60LSE main engine, producing 15,785kW and giving a service speed of 20kt.
