Simrad's new integrated ECDIS nav system

Simrad has launched a new Integrated ECDIS navigation system, the CS68. The system has been designed so that the Simrad AP80 autopilot system, when matched with the Simrad CS68 ECDIS, will be able to steer a vessel based on steering commands from the ECDIS. This TrackSteer feature will allow the vessel to auto-steer based on its turning characteristics pre-programmed route plan and vessel deviation limits entered into the ECDIS. Even in route planning mode all safety functions are continuously monitored. It will also require regulatory approval. The CS68 also feature a full set of Jeppe-sen ENCs and Professional+ charts supplied on a USB memory stick.
